M-Tec is preparing to close for our Christmas break, with our shutdown running from 5pm on 24th December 2025 until 8am on 5th January 2026. During this time, our team will be taking a well-earned rest, ready to return in the new year refreshed and energised for an exciting line-up of projects.

Looking back on 2025, it’s been an incredibly successful year for M-Tec, with a number of landmark projects completed and new collaborations underway. One of the highlights has been our appointment as the specialist fabrication partner for the Rosegarth Square Regeneration Project. We are proud to be fabricating the Wave Sculpture, a striking stainless steel feature that will become a focal point of the development. Scheduled for installation in April 2026, this project brings together Boston Council, Lindum Construction, Ares Landscape Architects, and Dice Consultants. We are thrilled to play a key role in helping to bring this ambitious vision to life.

Another major achievement for our team has been the completion of the Public Art Development at Marefair Heritage Park in Northampton. This exciting new green space features 16 striking Corten structures and two grand arches, connecting the town centre to the train station and helping to welcome more visitors into the heart of Northampton. The project was delivered in collaboration with Northampton Council, Jeakins Weir, and BDP Architects, and showcases the creative possibilities of public art when combined with expert fabrication.

As we close for the festive season, we would like to thank all our clients, partners, and team members for their continued support throughout the year. We look forward to 2026 with anticipation and excitement, ready to take on new challenges and continue delivering exceptional fabrication projects.

From all of us at M-Tec, we wish you a very Merry Christmas and a happy New Year.

marefair-park

M-Tec has proudly completed the fabrication and installation of a stunning new Public Art Development at Marefair Heritage Park in Northampton. This exciting project features 16 eye-catching Corten steel structures and two impressive arches, designed to enhance the town’s urban landscape and create a welcoming gateway between Northampton town centre and the train station.

Developed in close collaboration with Northampton Council, Jeakins Weir, and BDP Architects, the project has transformed the area into a vibrant green space that celebrates the town’s heritage while promoting connection and accessibility. The Corten steel elements, known for their distinctive weathering appearance, provide a unique visual character that will continue to evolve over time, blending beautifully with the natural surroundings.

"M-Tec were very thrilled to be involved with this stunning redevelopment project, partnering with Jeakins Weir and BDP to deliver the metalwork. The Corten arches and totems will weather in beautifully as we head into the autumn and winter. We will photograph the project in early spring 2026 and share how the metalwork finish has transformed over this period. We have no doubt it will look fantastic."

Uganda 50

In 1972, President Idi Amin ordered the forced expulsion of Uganda’s Asian Communities, giving them 90 days to leave the country. Some 60,000 Asian were displaced by this ruling. Between 1968 and 1978 more than 20,000 Ugandan Asian families settled in Leicester.

In 2022, Leicester City Council announced the commissioning of a commemorative Public Art Work to mark the 50th Anniversary of the extradition and the subsequent settlement of the Asian communities in Leicester.

The winning submission for a new piece of public art commemorating the 50th anniversary of the arrival of Ugandan Asians in Leicester was awarded to the Midlands-based artist Anuradha Patel.

Entitled ‘Sculptural Gateway Anuradha Patel describes the two aspects of the Structural Gateway as representing the two communities impacted by the expulsion of Asians from Uganda in 1972. The structure is connected at the top, symbolising the transition of a generation of people from one country to another. It will be constructed using a variety of sharp angled, vertical structures which she says are a reference to pain and upheaval, while the overall softer architectural shape of the structure suggests a place of shelter, sanctuary and refuge.

The new piece of public art will be created and installed at Belgrave Circle, at the gateway to the city’s Golden Mile as part of a wideranging
programme of “Uganda 50commemorations.

It is intended that the artist will work with the local community to further develop her design over the coming months, giving them an
opportunity to shape the final piece. Anuradha Patel said: “I am delighted to be awarded the Ugandan Asian 50th Anniversary public art commission. It is of great significance to me as an artist and an exceptional opportunity to acknowledge, celebrate, and commemorate an event which has not only shaped my
life, but the lives of a whole generation of people in the UK over the past 50 years.

“As a Ugandan Asian, of Gujarati origins, I feel strongly connected to the Asian communities in Leicester with so many shared experiences of migration, displacement, resettlement and assimilation in a new country. “This commission will provide the platform to address, inform and celebrate the breadth of emotions and achievements of the Ugandan Asian community in Leicester.

Crafting the Uganda 50 Sculpture: A Testament to Our Expertise

The Uganda 50 Sculpture was meticulously crafted in-house at m-tec for long-term collaborator, artist Anu Patel.

Leveraging our advanced laser cutting and rolling capabilities, we successfully created this intricate piece. Despite the challenge posed by its curved and intertwined sections, our team of skilled fabricators, backed by 25 years of experience in complex projects, delivered a remarkable sculpture.

Constructed from mild steel, galvanized, and powder-coated, the final result is vibrant and stunning. We hope you appreciate it as much as we do.

Take a look at one of our most significant projects, The Birmingham 21 memorial, a three-piece monument fabricated for the victims of the Birmingham Pub Bombings on the 44th anniversary of the attack.

The memorial consists of three 15ft trees fabricated from a blend of corten steel and stainless-steel resting in iroko wood planters. Each tree contains seven leaves which have been designed to bear the names of the 21 victims along with their ages. These details were laser cut on the underside of the steel leaves to act as a lasting memory to their friends and family.
